What a wonderful gift - Winnie the Pooh, a Valentine for You

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will this week be re-releasing the animated Pooh-bear classic, Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine for You. From Animation Insider (http://www.animationinsider.net/article.php?articleID=2306):

Originally produced as an hour-long television special in 1999, A Valentine for You blends Pooh's familiar aloofness with the ever-present curiosity of the other woodland animals. When Christopher Robin is spotted making a valentine for a girl, Pooh and friends get suspicious of their best friend and begin to wonder if he's out looking for others to hang around with. Who is this girl Christopher Robin is so fond of, and what is a "smitten," which has apparently taken hold of their dear human friend. Worried that Christopher will no longer have time for them, and hoping a second bite from the love bug will cure him, they set out on a journey to capture the mysterious Smitten.

Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine for You

Guided by gentle dialogue and clever, situational humor that likens the animals' search for the Smitten to a young boy's first love, A Valentine for You is one of the more genuinely whimsical Winnie the Pooh animated adventures of the past decade-plus. Beyond its intangibles, the program is also popular for its exotic background watercolors.

Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine for You is now available on DVD, labeled as a Special Edition ($29.99). The television special was previously released on home video roughly six years ago to the day, co-packaged with a TV episode, "Un-Valentines Day" (which is coincidentally an extra/secondary program to this new, current A Valentine for You release).

Extras for the current release include "Un-Valentines Day" and "My Hero" -- both of which were initially episodes of the late 1980s and early 1990s television rendition of Pooh-bear and friends. Pooh-themed Valentine's Day cards and a seasonal DVD game, "Catch the Love Bug," are also included.
