Hundreds of troops stationed around the world will receive Valentines Day cards thanks to the Bay County Library System, which will be offering workshops for children and their families.
“It’s just kind of a way, when they’re feeling lonely with their families thousands of miles away, that they know there are people in the world that are still thinking of them and do care about them,” said Mary Penn, community programs coordinator for the Bay County Library System. “It’s uplifting.”Last year, more than 200 Valentine’s Day cards were shipped to troops, according to Krista Pedersen, children’s librarian and children’s coordinator at the Alice & Jack Wirt Public Library, 500 Center, Bay City.
